It took me a minute to understand what I was doing wrong, but once I did, it was all smooth sailing!
I am going to show you how to hyperlink your own photo in Canva so that you don’t have to struggle the same way I did. It was actually much simpler than I would like to admit. But first, I think I should cover some of the basics:
What Is Hyperlinking?
Hyperlinking is essentially adding a clickable link to a photo. You add a link to the destination that you want your reader to end up with, and when they click it, the photo will redirect them to that page.
Think of it like adding a button that will direct your viewer to where you want them to go.
How Do You Hyperlink on Canva – Why Is it Helpful?
When you have a blog, one of the most important things that you learn to work with is your SEO. You want your blog to be a success, with your traffic volumes growing daily. A good way to achieve this is by having quality content that is easy for the viewer to navigate. When you have too many confusing steps, most readers will just move on to the next article.
That is why hyperlinking is helpful. It is a clean and cute way to help your viewers navigate your site and your content. It’s simple for you to do(once you learn how), and it makes your blog simpler to navigate and see.
What is Canva?
I wanted to make sure that I covered all my bases. If you weren’t aware, Canva is a photo editing and creating platform that is one of the most helpful tools that you can use as a blogger. If you don’t know about it yet, I would be shocked. Still, I wanted to clarify this for any of you who were starting at base one.
You can use Canva to create things like; social media posts, blog photos, and promotional stories. There is so much more that you can do with it. You will understand when you begin to take advantage of its capabilities.
How Do You Hyperlink on Canva?
Now that you understand what hyperlinking is and why it’s helpful, I think it’s time you learn how to implement it into your work. It’s a simple 3 step process.
Step One: Make Your Image
First things first, make the image that you want to add the hyperlink to. Chances are you already have one if you click on this article. Make sure you have your text prompt ready for the link.
The text prompt is going to be like your button. You can add cute decorations around it or a square behind it to make it easier for your viewers to see. Make sure that you put a simple call to action. Here are a few examples:
- Find That Here
- Best Recipes
- Top Tv Shows
You get the idea. Having a simple statement like this will ensure that your longtail link is not visible. Instead, it will be within your words!
Step Two: Insert Link of Choice
Next, you are going to insert your link of choice. To do this, you are going to click on the text and then look in the editing bar for the link button. Once you push that, it will give you the opportunity to input the link of your choosing.
Press enter, and your link is included.
How Do You Hyperlink on Canva – Step 3: Download as a PDF
This is perhaps the most important part of this entire tutorial. You need to download your photo as PDF, otherwise, your hyperlink is not going to work.
To do this, go to the download menu, and click on the drop bar. Select PDF instead of JPEG.
That’s all there is to it! It’s much simpler than it seems. I messed up on the last step.
I kept trying to download it as a JPEG, and then I wondered why it wasn’t working. The more you know!
I hope you found this helpful and that you now have one more tool to add to your blogging arsenal. Pretty soon, you are going to be a pro! If you are interested in more blogging tips, I think you are in the right place.
